So much great techno/downtempo/DJ-driven music is coming out lately. This tune is from Miguel Migs, the uber DJ that records on the OM label. Migs is most known for the Naked Music series that he has done for the label.
This CD that came out last week is a departure for him, and I love it. It's less housey and mixey than the Naked Music series he is famous for. It's more tune driven. I've always kinda/sorta appreciated his stuff, but I genuinely LOVE his latest CD.
I'm not even sure how you would classify this new music...it's sort of bossa nova, sort of electronica, sort of techno, sort of downtempo, sort of retro-disco, sort of nu-jazz. Anyway..I'm loving all these new and optimistic sounds that these incredible techno artists are putting out lately at such a fast pace.
Don't get me wrong. I still love good old rock and roll. Rock is my meat n' potatoes, musically speaking. Rock will always be the music that stirs my soul...but I have to say that for the past few years, techno artists like Thievery Corporation, Mark Farina, Miguel Migs, Stephane Compagnac, and Zero 7 have been the ones that have been pushing the music scene forward more than anyone.
Techno music has evolved incredibly in the past 5 years. "Le Monde" by Thievery Corporation is one of the most beautiful tunes ever...sortof a wierd perfect marriage of beautiful human musical soul and technology. I'll put it in the comment section. Check it out...I really really love "Le Monde".

And on the homefront...
I've been working like a little bitch lately, yall. I spend most nights making sure our website is caught up with what's going on in the store....
www.heliotropehome.com
(Check it out. I'm kinda proud of it right now. Let me know what you think.)
I'm been finishing up the Christmas assortment for the store and the website. Wait til yall see it...you are gonna freak. Beautiful and cool and fun as hell stuff that you won't see anywhere else. I am pretty proud of what we have got planned.
Marc has been "googling" the words Heliotrope and Atlanta and Decatur...and it's fun to see what has started to come up about us...
Lucky Magazine's online edition gave us a very nice mention as a pick in their Atlanta Shopping Guide...

(scroll down to "Decatur" in the neighborhoods they mention)
Business is getting a little more fast and furious than I expected this early. (It's only been 6 months...remember???) Anyways, it's all good. I just hope I can keep up. All my peers in my field were right....I should have done this a long time ago.
But I've always been a late bloomer. I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was 10.
