 Blog Fatigue?

Iz thiz a brand new malady for the post-millenium, or iz it juz writer's block? Such a freaking funny and odd and contemporary malaise if you think about it. I just don't want to sit inside, in front of a screen of pixelated, two dimensional confrontation for a little while.

I'm gonna follow nudgings from my inner child; who by the way, is getting straight A's in academics, but whose report card has been noted with some negative marks in conduct lately.

I've gotta be a raging rejuvenile (the anthropologist in me loves that newly coined phrase) for a while. I wanna rev up the engine in my new old truck, rev up the engine in my new old self, and four-wheel in careless abandon along the dirt roads of Georgia, and the dirt roads of my soul. I jus-need-ta-git-mah-groove-back. Ya feel me?

I need get into a lot of trouble, and I need to re-fuel. I need to feed and react and raise some hell instead of think and chronicle for a while.

My hero remains as always...the mighty DB....

Heroes

"I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day

And you, you can be mean;
And I, I'll drink all the time
'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact
Yes we're lovers, and that is that

Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time, just for one day
We can be heroes, for ever and ever
What d'you say?

I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be heroes, just for one day

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day

I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be heroes, just for one day

We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes
Just for one day
We can be heroes

We're nothing, and nothing will help us
Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay
But we could be safer, just for one day

Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-ohh, just for one day"

Parade Pics...Just Some Of The Fun Ones

Marc and I were just talking about how much Pride Week has changed over the years. Years ago, civil activism used to be the underlying theme of the whole week, but now it seems like it has been taken over by corporate goons, local businesses, and politicians vying for the gay dollar and vote.

Regardless...it's still fun, a big "exhale", and we still have a heapin' helpin' of our "colorful characters". I mean...what would the Pride Parade be without the lovable loons? Pretty dang boring, right?

I decided to skip all the boring pics we took and give you a taste of the more fun side of the parade and the colorful characters. I hope you get a kick out of them.

We got there a little too late to catch the Dykes on Bikes, who start off the parade with lots of noise and hell raisin', but we did catch the unfurling of the flag. The flag gets filled along the route with dollars thrown into it for Aids charities. It's one of the lump-in-the-ol'-throat moments for me every year still.

An outdoors group of mountain bikers, hikers, cavers, rock climbers, and rapellers that always puts on a good show with their floats.

The infamous "Blondie" from the infamous Clermont Lounge! Offering the infamous "Titty Shots" to unsuspecting newcomers to Atlanta since 1969. If you live in or near Atlanta, or have really ever partied here, you are laughing your collective butts off right now.

"Baton Bob"....ohhh yes, Baton Bob. Mind you, this is everyday attire for him, not something he just pulled out for the parade. As notorious as Bicycle Shorts guy in Midtown. This get-up and his proud and high steppin' baton routines are a 365 day-a-year thing here in midtown! Dang it...I wish this pic had turned out better.

Random crazy club kids from one of the random crazy night club floats.

Woohoo...some guy from some group. Shit, I can't remember what group...who cares what group? He wuz a hottie! hmm....ok ok...back to the pics

Atlanta Cheers...who rallys the crowds at most of the local gay sporting events. They did some amazing flips and routines until one poor guy busted his ass big time in the rain.

Another bunch of ...uh..."cheerleaders". LOL The "Armorettes"...a comedy drag ensemble that started at a bar called the Armory here. Hilarious. They put on the "Drag Races" a major event every year here in midtown Atlanta on Easter. After Easter dinner with the folks, we always head to the Drag Races for a gut bustin' laugh.

Hey hey now! Now...YOU are supposed to be marching with the gay water polo team...and YOU are supposed to be marching with one of the gay tennis groups! Oh man...

Q: How do you seperate the men from the boys in midtown Atlanta?
A: With a crowbar!

Of course you can't leave out the Leather/Levi boys. Tough, scarey...and militant as all get out. Just try to get all bashy and homophobic on these boys. They'd just as soon kick yo ass as look atcha.

And of course...last, but surely not least...the QUEENS....

...and the QUEENS...

...and ...uh... MORE QUEENS! Whew. Can't have a respectable pride parade without these divas, now can ya?

See what I'm sayin'? Why the heck would I ever wanna move away from a town this diverse and crazy and that uses it's whole brain during the day, then parties it's ever lovin' ass off at night? I'm just sayin'.

Oh man...Happy Pride yall.

Love, T.

 The Digging Dykes of Decatur

The Atlanta Pride Parade kicked off at 1pm today under threatening skies. About an hour into the parade, the rain started coming down in buckets, but the show kept on and we had a great time.

We walked down to Piedmont Park afterwards only to find out that all the day and night events were cancelled due to the electrical storms. Bummer.

My favorite group in the parade every year is always "The Digging Dykes of Decatur", a local gardening club, with their elaborately decorated hats and synchronized toy lawnmower routines.

This is the 16th year they have marched in the Atlanta Pride Parade. I will post some more pics of the parade later, but for now I wanted you to see these fun girls.

Here they come!

Saluting their fans.

Demonstrating their precision lawnmower routines.

Rockin their gardening hats, filled with all forms of fancy faux fauna.

Bye girls! Happy Pride!

Are You A Good Witch Or A Bad Witch?

I still can't believe she had the nerve to ask Dorothy that. Go suck a munchkin and mind your own damn business, Glenda. There is a house with your name on it, too.

Yo...what denizen of Oz are you? I'm the scarecrow.
