The Dog House

 Dear God

Dear God,

I hope you got the letter,
and...
I pray you can make it better
down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image,
see them starving on their feet
'cause they don't get
enough to eat
from God,
I can't believe in you.

Dear God,

sorry to disturb you, but...
I feel that I should be heard
loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image,
see them fighting in the street
'cause they can't make opinions meet
about God,

I can't believe in you.

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make
mankind
after we made you?
And the devil too...

Dear God,

don't know if you noticed, but...
your name is on
a lot of quotes in this book,
and us crazy humans wrote it,
you should take a look,
and all the people that you
made in your image,
still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it ain't,
and
so do you,
dear God,
I can't believe in...
I don't believe in...

I won't believe in heaven and hell.
No saints,
no sinners,
no devil as well.
No pearly gates,
no thorny crown.
You're always letting
us humans down.

The wars you bring,
the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
and it's the same
the whole world 'round.
The hurt I see helps to compound
that
Father, Son and Holy Ghost
is just somebody's unholy hoax,
and if you're up there you'd perceive that my heart's here
upon my sleeve.

If there's one thing I don't believe in...

...it's you...

Dear God.

Friday Fun Facts...Gentle Nudge From PolarB

Who loves ya, Sweet Bear?

1) I think one indication that I am getting really old is the fact that all 16 year old boys now look exactly like 16 year old boys did when I was a 16 year old boy. Fashion seems to have come full cycle in my lifetime. Another thing that confirms this is seeing toys
that I had when I was a kid in vintage and antique stores .

2) I truly believe that Martha Stewart is a superhero.

3) Lately, I have been missing "going to church". Our family was very involved in the Baptist church when I was a kid. Somewhere along the line when I was a teenager, I got fed up with the politics and hypocrisy..and stopped going. I'm contemplating going back.

4) My two favorite events in Atlanta kick off this month...Screen On The Green and our huge Pride Festival. Hundreds of people gather in Piedmont Park for movies at sunset every Thursday night this month. Blankets, wine, food, and candles. I love that stuff. The film "Breakfast at Tiffanys" shows the 21st, as an unofficial kick off of the Pride Festival. June ROCKS in the ATL.

5) We are shopping for a vintage truck to schlep around ourselves and garden stuff. We (read...I) have wanted one forever. We (read...Marc) have our eye on a 1973 Ford F100. Sweeeeet. Thank you, Marc and Craig's List.

The following are my two ultimate dream vehicles, though.

Can you name these?

Hint: The first one was the last of it's kind, and the second one was the first of it's kind.

Hmm....You watch...someday I'll have one or both of these...

How Not To Win Friends Nor Influence People

Is this skinny ass chick...

A) Looking for a role in Monster 2?
B) A loathsome right-wing nutcase?
C) Really bitter from being picked on as a kid?
D) Actually roaming free among us?

11:06 Oh what's the big deal, after all? She just ignited the fuse to the bomb of her 7 and 1/2 minutes of fame. We will be bored by her by Monday and she will a D-list pop culture corpse. Her books will soon be religated to the bargain bin at Barnes and Noble. Then back to Martha Stewart, finally.

Less Hate More Love.

Jesus walks and watches. You never know when you meet Him on the road. Try and act like He would want you to.

You know what I mean.

Let not the hard black hearts of medieval kings and modern spinners lead you astray.

Peace,

 After The Storm

"If only
the only tears
that flow'd
were only the tears
from only a flower
only after
a brief spring storm

Only tears
from only
a sweet-gum tree,
only on the back of your neck
on a
cool
quiet
spring
night

Only these tears

Only tears
from only
a muscadine vine
only after the rain,
after being
visited by a lover,
who only took as much as he gave,
like a honeybee."

Sweet cool Georgia evening after a rain shower. Everything in this part of the world is quiet and focused....all you can hear are birds, the faint voice of Nina Simone, and the sky rumbling in the distance. Dusk is settling on the secret garden. The only tears are the raindrops dripping from the cone flowers, the sweet gum, and the muscadines. A moment to distill and bottle for dry times.

*****Nina Simone "Lilac Wine"

P.S. Marc caught a pic of the dragonfly that's been hanging out in the butterfly garden today.
